How Do Invisalign and ClearCorrect Compare? A Dentist Breaks it Down

If you’ve already decided that you want to shift teeth to make them straighter or address an uneven bite that’s causing you oral health problems, but do so without using traditional metal braces, you’ve likely already narrowed your choices down to clear aligners. The two most well-known treatment solutions that dentists offer include ClearCorrect and Invisalign in Keller. However, we understand if you aren’t sure which option is best for you. Below, we’ll break down these differences clearly, so you can make the choice that fits your specific needs.

Cost Comparisons

Cost of these services is one of the most frequently asked questions dentists get regarding clear aligners, which is why it’s worth mentioning. While ClearCorrect does often advertise itself as the cheaper option compared to Invisalign, it’s important to recognize that each aligner service has its own unique systems that can vary in treatment length (and therefore cost.)

For example, Invisalign has as many as five different options to choose from depending on the severity of your dental problems. ClearCorrect offers just three, making it slightly less personalized. With the development of these personalized options, comparing price has only become less and less relevant. What is worth considering is whether or not your insurance will offer coverage for either service, should you have it.

Aligner Thinness

One main difference between Invisalign and ClearCorrect is their aligner thickness. While a newer company, ClearCorrect’s aligners have shown to be thinner compared to Invisalign. Because of this, they may appear less visible when worn. However, this also means that the aligners are not quite as sturdy as Invisalign’s. If they break, they can interfere with your treatment process, so you’ll need to consider how fragile you intend to be with your aligners.

Materials Utilized

While they may look the same, the materials used between Invisalign and ClearCorrect are not created equal. For example, ClearCorrect is using the same plastic material that Invisalign was using many years ago. In comparison, Invisalign has developed its own proprietary thermoplastic material known as SmartTrack®, which was completed after researching and testing over 300 different materials over the span of eight years. This ensures the aligners are more easily removable and comfortable. It even claims to speed up your treatment results.

Experience and Expertise

Invisalign is significantly older than ClearCorrect by about 10 years. Founded in 1997, it took the company just four years to produce close to one million aligners. In comparison, ClearCorrect was founded in 2006. At the end of the day, this head-start gave Invisalign the time to not only develop their Align Technology, but register several hundred patents on the materials and mapping technology they use to create treatment plans.

The only way to know for sure which option is right for you is to speak with a dentist directly. During your visit, you’ll be able to confirm whether Invisalign or ClearCorrect in Keller will best suit your needs. Don’t wait to call a dentist today to set up your very first consultation!
